Permissions explained simply

Browser permissions may be needed so the extension can read selected words, display helper information, save vocabulary, highlight saved words, and show reminders where supported. These permissions are used to provide the extension's core functionality, not to profile users.

Local storage and sync storage

Saved words and settings are stored locally in Chrome extension storage. This keeps your data private and accessible only on your device.

Dictionary and translation support

Only selected words or phrases are sent to external services when you request a lookup. DictionaryAPI.dev provides English definitions, phonetics, pronunciation audio, examples, synonyms, and antonyms. MyMemory Translation is used only when online translation is enabled (optional and can be turned off). Lookup responses may be cached locally to reduce repeated API calls and improve performance.

What VocabGlow does not do

VocabGlow does not collect personal information, build advertising profiles, or share user information with third parties. The focus is on providing vocabulary help while keeping the experience lightweight and straightforward.
